Ford Fiesta MK1 XR2. Superb example which was restored between 2009 and 2011

and was used until 2016 when it was dry stored until 2021. Really nice looking car with a

few additions / upgrades. We have the original service book, handbooks and some old

MOTS. The car has done 125000 miles and has had 10 previous owners. Everything

was either new or refurbished when the car was restored by the previous owner, who

owned the car from 2008 until 2021.

 

The current owner bought the car from us in August 2021, after which it was

further upgraded with a number of new parts including struts, steering gaiter, rear wheel

cylinders, battery, alternator, speedo and throttle cables. A correct 32/34 DFT Weber

carburettor was sourced, rebuilt and fitted with a manual choke conversion and new

Ramair filter. The car passed MOT at Harrisons Ford Centre in Peebles on 7th May 2022

and will be tax and MOT exempt from next year.

 

Body - Full restoration was carried out on a spit. It had new front panel, front wings,

bonnet, driver side inner wing, front floor pans, both sills, rear valance. Rot free tailgate

and doors. American moonroof, Austrian motorsport rear roof spoiler. Climate pack

opening quarters. Paint is lovely. No signs of any rust or bubbling. Car is all body colour

underneath and detailed. Lovely looking car.

 

Interior - Uncracked dash. Does have one small storage dimple on passenger side but

not bad. Speedo and rev counter were previously custom items using XR3i clocks but

the current owner has returned these to standard. The mileage is therefore different but

the custom clocks are available to verify mileage and fit if the new owner prefers.

Standard centre console with PSRT radio cassette player. Cassette player doesnt work.

Standard grey carpet, Escort MK5 RS2000 seats recovered with grey leather squabs.

Rear seat and door cards covered to match the front seats. Good rear quarter cards and

parcel shelf. 

 

Mechanics - 1600 crossflow, rebored plus 60 thou, fully rebuilt, lightened flywheel, Kent

234 cam, unleaded head. Previously ran twin 40s but now on correct twin choke weber.

RS Turbo LSD 5 speed box, quick shift linkage fitted (not puma), fiesta centre 5 speed

tie bar kit fitted, poly bushed, Rear axle blasted and powder coated, adjustable rear anti

roll bar, new rear drums and shoes, braided flexis, Spax adjustable rear shocks, Spax

lowering springs all round, KYB gas front struts. Drilled and grooved discs, Mintex pads

and Compbrake top mounts. Full custom made exhaust including manifold. Custom

made 3 core radiator, silicone hoses, ali catch tank,

 

Wheels - Standard refurbished Pepperpots with Toyo Roadpro tyres.

 

Really lovely old car with some nice upgrades. Might not be for the purists but the

previous owner built it how he wanted it and made a cracking job of it. Now fully

recommissioned by the current owner and on the road. Please feel free to come and see
